Our Challenger Tour is focused on riding over technically challenging terrain and is specifically aimed at off road riders with previous off road experience. This tour IS NOT for riders without a good level of off road competence. There is absolutely no pressure on this tour and the difficulty can be tailored to your groups ability and their is often routes around some of the tougher stuff if required. On our midweek tours you can even have the option of reserving the tour for you and your group of friends! We supply you with all of the necessary protective equipment such as body armour, crash helmets, boots, knee guards etc as well as the use of one of our fully prepped 450cc enduro motorcycles for your riding days.
A great mixure of technically challenging, tight rocky mountain passes and long flowing loose tracks, this tour has it all for those looking for a challenge. Specifically tailored to riders with previous off road experience, we will take you on a journey through some of the most amazing countryside and terrain in Andalucia. You will simply be amazed at the vista's on offer and the tracks that you will be riding. From a very tight, rocky, loose climb up one of the mountains (with some rather intimidating drops) to a thrilling blast along a dry riverbed, you will leave Spain wanting to come back again as soon as possible! You will be riding fully prepared 450cc Sherco or Beta enduro motorcycles on this tour - believe us, once you have tried one of these you will be converted! For those who would like something a little less intimidating, or need a lower seat heigh, there is also the option of using one of our 230cc machines, which are more than capable of dealing with the tough terrain on offer. We must make it absolutely crystal clear that riders with little or no off road experience can NOT even consider this tour in Spain. Through many years experience in the off-road motorcycle tour industry, we know for certain than putting inexperienced riders on a 450cc enduro bike amongst demanding terrain is a recipe for disaster. The minimum experience required is that you are able to ride confidently off-road and have the skills required to ride technically challenging terrain without falling off every 100 yards!. Obviously, you do not have to be an enduro riding expert, just a capable, sensible rider with a good sense of self preservation! Please note that this tour is never going to be conducted as an enduro event, it is a technically challenging ride with a litte bit of faster riding thrown in for good measure. Below you will find an overview of what to expect during your visit with us in Andalucia.
You arrive at either Malaga or Granada airports and take the short 45 minute journey to Villanueva Del Trabuco. If the package you have chosen includes transfers, we will collect you from arrivals. If we have arranged car hire for you, you will collect your car from the dedicated desk in the car hire area. You can download a Welcome Pack from the left hand sidebar which gives you instructions on collecting your car and directions to Villanueva Del Trabuco from Malaga.
Day 2 - Riding day Your guide or another member of staff will collect you from your accommodation at around 9.30am - hope you got a good nights sleep! Once you arrive at our centre you will be kitted up with everything required including full body armour, knee guards, boots, helmet, goggles, gloves, enduro pants, race jersey and enduro jacket if required. You will also be supplied with a small rucksack to carry a complimentary bottle of mineral water along with any personal items such as cameras that you may like to take along with you. Once everyone is kitted up you will be briefed on safety, riding etiquette and introduced to the bikes that you will be riding. Once everyone is happy to proceed we will head off for a short 10 minute ride to familiarise you with the bikes before stopping to ensure that everyone is happy with the position of the controls, handlebars and levers etc. It's now time for the real fun to begin! We start you off on some nice flowing tracks before heading off to some more challenging terrain. We will stop for regular water breaks to keep you hydrated and to get those important snaps for the family album! These stops are also a good opportunity to chat with the guide for advice on riding aspects or any other issues you would like to address. The riding continues until around 1.30pm when we stop for lunch in a typically Spanish restaurant. There will be the usual banter between the riders and the guide (make sure you really take the micky if he has fallen off at any point!). Thoughts, problems and ideas will all be discussed over lunch and our guide is more than happy to answer questions and give advice on your riding. The second half of the day will continue in the same vein as the morning, although some of the terrain will be a little tougher - we willtry not to tire you out too much before your second days riding! The difficulty and pace will be assessed by our guide and you are never under any pressure to tackle anything you are not happy with - although you will be encouraged to give it a try as there is nothing more satisfying than conquering that nasty looking hill climb! You will be amazed at just what you can achieve! We normally end up back at base by around 4-5pm (depending on group sizes and abilities) but there is no need to rush off as there will be a nice cold beer (or soft drink) waiting for you.
Day 3 - Riding day We will meet at our base at around 9.30pm and get you all kitted up and briefed about what is in store for your second day of riding. Today is all about pushing you a little harder (that is only if you want to of course!) and putting into practise everything that you learnt from yesterday. You will be tackling more technical terrain such as river beds, steep climbs and descents along with some nice rocky sections to keep your mind focussed!
Day 4 - Riding day Your third day of riding (if booked) will reinforce everything you have tackled so far and if you really want to 'go for it' we will keep pushing you on more technical terrain and some steeper climbs, or of course, we can take it a little easier and simply enjoy the amazing countryside on the enduro bikes. There are so many trails in this area that you need never ride the same trail twice, but we will give you the opportunity to re-visit any of the places you particularly liked, or would like to try again to guage your improvement!
Further Riding Days If you have booked a longer stay with us, your guide will tailor these days to suit you - as mentioned previously, there are miles and miles of riding in this area of Spain and some stunning scenery to be taken in - it is simply an awe-inspiring experience that you will remember for many years to come - and hopefully have you coming back with us for more! Andalucian Trail Tours is dedicated to making this experience unbeatable in terms of riding and customer service and are flexible in trying to accommodate any further requirements that you may have. Non-riding days and activities for non riders There are a lot of other activities and places to visit in this area of Spain which can be found on the internet or on our 'resources' page of this site. |
