For those riders who are perhaps considering venturing off-road for the first time or previous off-roaders wanting a relaxed riding experience, our Scenic Tour covers all your requirements.

trail bike riding tour company

Whether you’re out for just one day or a whole week or more, safety and enjoyment are paramount and the first day will commence with a safety briefing and introduction to the bikes. We will make sure you’re comfortable with the riding kit we supply as that can feel strange if you’re used to a road bike and leathers. We have all the items you’ll need in a wide range of sizes so can accommodate any rider, although of course you’re more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

We go through the basics of body position whilst on the bikes and take you to an off-road area where you’ll have chance to get used to the handling characteristics of the machines. You’ll have plenty of time to get the feel of them before we take you out onto the trails proper. Time spent here will pay dividends later as you’ll relax more and be able to put into practice what you’ve learned in these early sessions.

Learning to ride off-road motorcycles in spain

Once everyone in the group is confident of their abilities to actually ride the bike we’ll set off, covering about 5km off-road on a beautiful, easy track that meanders through a local pine forest. After that, we’ll stop on our practice area which has a few short climbs and descents, off-camber corners and a smattering of loose gravel. At a gentle pace, we’ll give you time to adjust to the differences between riding on tarmac and dirt in a safe and controlled manner.

You’ll spend time being shown how to use your legs as well as your arms to help when negotiating terrain and what to look out for as you move along the trails. The confidence you gain from this session will help enormously as the day progresses and the guide will be on hand to capture your finest moments on camera for later!

At this point, and again at regular times throughout the day, we’ll take on water and have a chat about how things are progressing and any areas you are encountering problems with. We can then target these areas in future trails or with extra tuition on the off-road course – the feedback we’ve had is that riders have enjoyed the day far more having spent an hour or so covering the basics than they would have had they ventured straight out into the wilderness. The confidence you’ll gain from the first part of the day will enable you to tackle stuff you never thought you’d be doing on the flight over!!

The day will continue with putting these experiences to good use. Just up the track is a brilliant little area with slightly longer climbs and a trials type section where you can practice negotiating tight turns and narrow rocky tracks. This is all done in a very low gear as speed is not the main feature of our tours – balance and throttle control is the order of the day.

We’ll then take you down a winding descent where the guide will stop and point out any awkward sections, so you can concentrate on taking the best line and enjoying the feeling of being in control, rather than feeling like the bike is taking you for a ride!!

We then have a wide variety of narrow, wide, flat and rocky trails to take you places you’d never go by any other means until we reach our lunch stop around 2pm.

By this time you’ll be ready for some chance to sit down and chat over a meal, which is included in the cost, and a drink about the mornings’ escapades.

After lunch we’ll head back a different way to give you the most varied riding available, taking in such superb views that we’ll just have to stop and take some more snaps for the album! On this part of the journey we’ll climb to over 1300metres where you can see the Sierra Nevada mountain range, some 40km away!

The last part of the day will take us through, amongst many other places, a large olive field. Now, you may think there’s nothing unusual about that but this one has a marked out track through it which is full of tight right and left turns where you’ll be spinning the back wheel up like a pro. It’s an absolute blast – no rocks, just a mud and gravel mix which is just the best stuff for practicing slippin’ and slidin’!!

We aim to get back to the base by about 5-6pm depending on the time of year, by which time you’ll have covered between 100 and 150km, mostly off-road.

Day 2 (if booked) will dispense with the introduction techniques we covered yesterday and we’ll head straight out onto the trails. For today, we’ll tackle some more challenging terrain featuring streams, tight tracks through woods and some nice climbs and descents. It’s more technical than the first day but you will be amazed at how much you (and the bikes) can handle once you’ve had that first days’ experience to call upon.

Again there will be frequent rest stops for piccies and water and of course we’ll end up at a Spanish restaurant for our lunch.

The afternoon session will take us through more stunning scenery and feature a loose rocky descent (sounds more scary than it is…) and some lovely whoops (these are basically dips in the ground close together that get the suspension working – you get a great feeling when the front wheel lifts coming out of them!), crossing more water before we return to base.

At no time are you forced to tackle anything you’re not 100% happy about – our aim is to make you a better rider and therefore enjoy the day(s) more through instruction and encouragement, rather than through fear.

For those riders coming for longer than this, rest assured the trails will vary from one day to the next – we have such a variety here that we can go on a different route each day for however long you’re here for!

About the routes we use

The routes we use are all legal rights of way, covering many different types of terrain. There are the almost obligatory dusty trails, rocky sections, streams and narrow tracks that lead to some of the most spectacular vistas in Andalucia.

These have been found after many days of research, leading to many dead-ends! The result is a wide catalogue of available routes for all ability levels – we don’t just say it, we mean it.

We believe we are the only company operating in Spain that have separate guides and bases for novices and experts. Our Scenic Tour guide leader will encourage you to ride within your limits and tailor the route to your abilities while the Terrain Tour guide leader, who has competition experience, can take you at a pace you are happy with over more demanding terrain.

Either way, whatever your level and desires, we can accommodate you!

Nobody, but nobody, takes offence to bikes and bikers in this part of the world – it’s part of the Spanish culture.

It’s not uncommon to see teenagers wheelying mopeds and 50cc trail bikes along the village streets with no problems with police or other road users – takes some getting used to when all you’ve known is the anti-bike feeling that is prevalent in the UK.

As long as you don’t damage farmers’ crops ( we never take you through cultivated farmland) then you’re greeted with a wave and a smile wherever you go – you’re made to feel like someone special when you do ride through a village, rather than a criminal!

Pound for pound, we think this is the best way to get to see the areas’ outstanding beauty, wildlife and topography - something that you can’t see by any other means.
