The historic town of Antequera is only 20 mins drive away and has some beautiful architecture and apparently the largest number of historical buildings per town of anywhere in Spain, many of the buildings are very much as they were hundreds of years ago.

The National Park of El Torcal is nearby as is El Chorro Gorge and worth a day trip. Also a visit to Lobo Park where you can see wolves by day or on special night trips when they do "Howling Tours" is highly recommended!

Further afield Granada is a beautiful city with not only the famous Alhambra Palace but a cafe culture feel to it which is very similar to Barcelona. From there it's a short drive to the Sierra Nevada mountain range - the highest point in mainland Spain and whether guests want to walk, cycle or ski this is the place to do it! Skiing is normally available from November through to April depending on snowfall and there are numerous ski runs and lifts plus loads of places to hire equipment, snowboards etc from the nearby ski village of Prado Llano which also has many bars and restaurants.

For the ladies, nearby at Iznajar there is a beauty treatment spa which does the full range of massages, facials, body wraps.
Horse Riding at El Rancho - Just 5 minutes outside the village is the wonderful El Rancho. All the horses are loved, cared for and exercised on a daily basis and they have only the best feed and suppliments. Yes, they are thoroughly spoilt. However, this is only reflected in their good manners and well being. All horses have received BHS schooling and the staff at El Ranco constantly endeavour to instil good manners in thier horses. Hiking - There are some lovely walks around the area and we can point you in the direction of local English people with experience of the best places to try.
Water sports/Fishing - There are 4 lakes within 30 mins drive that you can swim or just relax and perhaps have a picnic. The lake at Iznajar has a sandy beach where you can hire pedaloes etc in the summer and is a popular spot for windsurfers and canoeists. There is fishing allowed if you hold a current UK fishing licence.
Mountain Biking - For those who prefer pedals to power 2 wheels then there are facilities available for mountain biking and endurance training days/weeks from Rio Frio, who have a huge knowledge of the area. You can visit their website by clicking the link below:

Swimming Pool - There is a communal pool immediately behind the starting point of our Tours and is open from mid-May to September. It has a separate pool for toddlers as well as a great restaurant which is also open in the evening. There are no loungers for hire but there are tables and chairs and grassy areas to lie out on as well as a lifeguard on duty. Beautiful views of the whole village can be seen from here as it is located at the highest point of the village in the old quarter. Entrance is a paltry 2 euros or so for the whole day!! Doesn't get overly busy apart from Sundays when whole families turn up - strangely it tends to be busier in the evening when people come to eat.
Paintball - Staying with the 'getting dirty' theme, how about shooting your friends with paint! Paintball Trabuco is a fun way to spend a few hours and a great way to get your own back at people who laughed when you fell off the bike! The link below is in Spanish, but I am sure you will get the idea!

Climbing - There's great rock-climbing to be had in the next village at Villanueva del Rosario. There aren't places to hire equipment unfortunately but plenty of climbs from easy to challenging if you can bring your own gear. Alternatively, the famous El Chorro Gorge on the other side of Antequera is only a 30 minute drive away.
Tennis - There is a tennis court at Rosario and they only charge 3 euros per hour - no equipment is available to rent from there as it's in the grounds of a (brilliant) restaurant, we can arrange hire rackets and balls for around 5 euros.
Inspiration - The area is a favourite place for keen painters to come to - there is a local company that caters for this.
Circuito de Jerez - the home of the Andalucian round of the MotoGP world championship and a must see if you're into bike racing. There is also F1 and bike testing at regular intervals during the year and it's normally only a few £'s to get admission and that includes a grandstand seat!!
